What’s Working…

The topics are much better than a few months ago.  There is really an excellent variety, from big news like Iran and Greece to politics, to the ‘what’s wrong with these people’ madness.

There is significantly less giggling during most of the serious topics.

As always, I love their down to earth take and the fact that even when they’re serious, they don’t take anything too seriously.

There is a moment where they go after Scott Walker, even though Mock supports him.  This gives them tremendous credibility because it shows they don’t just follow talking points like Hannity, etc.  Really excellent (last example below).

What needs some attention…

When they giggle, it’s still too much.  Even in What The Hell

They have slipped a bit at their hour starts.  They should jump right in and be serious with the first thing (example below)

Even though they’ve done a good job of getting further from direct politics, they could do more. Example below of a social issue that, while political, doesn’t have to be set up as politics.

I think there would be subtle but powerful difference if one of them talked to us instead of both always talking to each other.  Maybe the one who is walking through and setting up the topic could always be talking directly to the listener, and then the other one could be commenting to her.

Audio Examples…

Very little giggle, much more serious and credible, and down to earth take.  Bernie Sanders…

COTR 03 Bernie no giggle

Also well done, Iran…

COTR 02 Iran

Taking way too long to get in.  Top of the show yesterday…

COTR 01 Iran deal open long

A good social topic that is unnecessarily political.  This is one would have been better if it was all about the concept first, and then oh yeah now it’s a law at the end…

COTR 03

And, too giggly, even for Whats The Hell.    Note the difference between this and one of the cuts above…

COTR -02 Naked with Pigs

Scott Walker, no balls.  They ‘swing the other way’ just enough for credibility…

COTR -01 Scott Walker Mon 7-13
