What’s working…

As always, when he thinks through the topic, he comes up with great questions, even with the Charlie Hebdo thing as it was breaking.

Good breaking news coverage of Charlie Hebdo.

Hearing more Mike Wilson and it sounds good because he’s part of the topic and adds to Tony’s discussion.

What needs some attention going forward…

Breaking news was good but could be a little better.  Tips below.

Tony seems to be reading maybe even more than he actually is.  And he should get name pronunciations before starting a topic as often as possible.  He sounds a little out of touch with stories where he doesn’t know how to pronounce things

Tony is still getting too deep into the weeds on politics.  An example of Boehner’s re-election as speaker below.

Still too much Paige.  Mike sounds better.

Recommendations…

1) On Breaking news, stop down and say “ok here’s what we know right now” every 15 minutes or so while it’s developing.  Bullet point it, so it’s super easy to keep up.

2) Adding his own insight and question to the Charlie Hebdo coverage was excellent, but sometimes you have to hold off on this.  When the breaking story is closer to home, people want to just know the facts first.

3) Stay out of the political weeds.  It’s a tough listen in the mornings anyway, plus it puts Tony in the same sandbox as Rush, Levin, Beck, Hannity, and on and on.  When Tony has his own well thought out take on a non-political topic, it’s all him and really sounds great.

4) In the hours I heard, there was the right amount of Paige, none, and the show sounded much better for it!  Can we keep it this way?
