What’ working…

When Michael and Roger come up with unique take, it’s fantastic!  They really need to do more of this (First & second examples below, as Michael defends Star Wars and they talk comfort pig)…

I am hearing more insight, more often, and more often that insight is creative and unexpected.  Really great.

The music and prepared production is very good.  At first it was a little overwhelming but now it’s much better balanced with other content and their often well made points.

.

What needs some more attention…

They should avoid politics as much as possible. They’re up against the best in the business in their final hour and they have no need to do politics per se.  Only when it’s Kansas or Topeka or something that immediately and directly impacts people (third example below…)

Michael has to stop reading.  When he just talks it’s 1000 times better.

Now that their content is so much better, when they don’t have a take it really stands out.  Again, a question of more and smarter prep (last example below)

.

Recommendations:

1) In prep, make sure every main topic has a strong beginning and a unique end, and then take the time to think through how you’re going to run it. I have the sense you are doing this with music and sound, but it needs to be about points you make too.

2) Just stay away from politics.  First, you’re just so much better than that, and unique.  And second,  you have too much competition in national politics.  You have no competition for your own and more local topics.

3) Really work to avoid reading.  Just tell me what it says, don’t read word for word unless it’s a suicide note or better.
