Radio In The Time of Covid-19
Candidly, I have been surprised at how consumers have been using radio during Covid. Many people in the medium thought that listening levels would drop as people stopped driving and stayed home. But in all the places where I have clients: 7 countries, and coast to coast in the US, in fact listening has been going up.
People are spending all this time at home with a Tv and lots of internet (in a time when you can no longer just go to Radio Shack and buy a table radio) and yet they are still choosing radio.
There have been shifts: the peak of morning drive is an hour later, almost everywhere. The time they spend listening is going way up because it’s not as easy to change a radio station at home as it is in the car.
